• Steph • Season 2 • Episode 10

AS PROMISED - HERE'S YOUR 🔗 TO THE FULL LIST! JUMP ON IN!

Episode Snapshot:

That nagging feeling of being slightly "off" – not broken, not lost, just disconnected from yourself – is something many of us experience but struggle to address. What if reconnecting with your authentic self doesn't require dramatic change but rather intentional micro-adjustments?

This episode explores 20 powerful, game-changing habits that serve as breadcrumbs back to your truest self. Beginning with our weekly mantra "I choose habits that make me feel good about myself," we dive into how feeling good about yourself isn't a luxury but an entitlement you deserve right now. These small shifts bring you back to alignment without requiring you to burn everything down and start over.

From morning practices like waking up without immediately reaching for your phone, to journaling with honest self-assessment, to taking walks without distraction – each micro-habit creates space for authentic connection with yourself. We explore nourishment beyond food, boundary-setting through saying no to obligations, and the transformative power of clearing both physical and mental clutter. The episode also highlights ways to reintroduce joy and pleasure without justification, including solo dates and doing things purely because they feel good.

What makes these shifts so powerful is their sustainability. You don't need to implement all twenty at once – just start with the one that tugged at your heart most while listening. That magnetic pull is your intuition pointing you toward your next step home. Through consistent small actions, you'll find yourself naturally returning to who you've always been beneath the expectations and noise of modern life.

Ready to reconnect with your authentic self? Download the complete list of shifts from the show notes and share which one you're implementing first! Remember, you're not far from yourself – you've just been a little loud, a little busy, a little pulled in too many directions. These shifts are your path back home.

Welcome to Pocketful of Mojo, and today we're going to jump right into it. It's going to be a juicy episode and no need to take notes. So I've captured all the genius you're going to hear today and you can grab this list from a link in the show notes so that you can just sit back, tune in and listen for what resonates with you.

Speaker 1:

But first we're going to revisit our old friend, the mantra of the week. This one is particularly excellent, so let's dive right in. Our mantra for the week. This week is I choose habits that make me feel good about myself. Hmm, sounds simple, right, but simple don't mean easy, and we know this. So let's unpack it together. I choose habits that make me feel good about myself. I choose because who's in charge? You are babes. When we say I choose, it automatically puts us back in the suit of armor that makes us feel empowered, in control and at the top of the food chain when it comes to knowing what's best. It takes us away from the noise of comparison and outside influence and reminds us to be mindful and intentional when it comes to how we spend our time, our days and our lives.

Speaker 1:

I choose habits that make me feel good about myself. So what is a habit? It's your usual, your go-to. It's a thing that a person does on the regular, routinely and repeatedly. Now, the habit alone can be good or bad, and that can all be totally subjective. So what we're looking for here is how it makes you feel, and only you know that. Only you are able to decide.

Speaker 1:

I choose habits that make me feel good about myself. Imagine a day where all you did was things that felt good. I'll wait. Sounds amazing, right? And what if I told you that you don't need to be sick to get better? What if, after today's episode, you incorporated just one habit that got you closer to a life where there isn't a day that goes by where you don't engage in an activity that guarantees that you feel good about yourself? What would change? What would be different? I choose habits that make me feel good about myself.

Speaker 1:

Feeling good about yourself, it's not a luxury, it's an entitlement, my friend. It's not something that you have to earn or achieve once you complete your to-do list or are living the life you see on Instagram Right here, right now. You deserve to feel good about yourself because look at you. You're amazing. Look at all the things you've done, the times that you've failed and gotten back up, the people you love and who love you all. Because you are exactly who you are. Period, you're worthy of feeling good. Let me say that again At any time. You are worthy of feeling good and remember who's in charge. Here you are and you want this for yourself, and choosing habits that make you feel good is an express line to capturing that feeling. More often, with intention, I choose habits that make me feel good about myself. Okay, let's give it up for the weekly mantra. That one was juicy, but let's get into our list.

Speaker 1:

Let's start by looking at why small shifts matter the self, the mojo, the feeling of being an unstoppable force of nature. It's not found at a weekend retreat or by burning down your life or a massive life pivot. Look, despite what you might think, if you want to live a life of more ease, you don't have to burn it all down and start from scratch. That's the beauty of Mojo. You can start right where you are. Because the truth is is that that feeling of ease and we do love ease it's rediscovered when you're acting with intention, in the in-between moments, when we slow down, when we tune in, when we make these micro adjustments that change our trajectory and they get us back on track, and these shifts aren't fancy or flashy. They're simple, but simple isn't the same as shallow. These are deep, intentional changes that bring you back to yourself one breath, one boundary, one moment at a time, and I got to tell you before we dig into these 20 ways to shift into mojo.

Speaker 1:

This has truly been my own personal secret sauce to personal connection and transformation. In 2021, when I was a shell of a human, I was really deliberate about the habits that I wanted to adopt, and it had the double benefit of helping me get to know myself again, what I liked, what my needs were, and had the bonus impact of reminding me how empowered I really am to live a life that I love, and that, my dear listener, is all I want for you, and that's what Mojo Mastery is all about. So here we go. I've broken down the 20 best places to start and included a bonus mantra here and there that you can carry with you. You don't have to do them all, but when you see how effort and time are replaced with intention and focus, you'll be excited to tackle them all. So, to make it easy once again, I've broken them down into sections so that you can easily think about how you want to weave these into your day. So we'll start at the beginning.

Speaker 1:

You're rested, you've surrendered all momentum from the day before and your body has gone through its magic and rested, reset, healed, recharged, and you open your eyes and you're ready to start a whole new day. So what do you do? You grab your phone. Not anymore home slice. That shit is toxic, I know, I know, and I'm the worst for it too, and it's been one of the harder roadblocks to overcome. But, babe, whatever is on that phone will be there after breakfast, I promise. Let me convince you why the affirmation here is today I'll have a good day on purpose. You'll feel your best when you wake up without your phone. Dare you to try it, because what you're doing is you. Let your own energy greet you first, not someone else, not someone's to-do list, not what the internet tells you you should be doing, not the news, just you. This is the part where you can start the day with a big thank you, because a new day is not promised, it is a gift. And when we open our eyes and our first thoughts are how great is this day going to be? You open your mind and kickstart your imagination to start imagining all the wonder that the day might have for you, and you want to be ready.

Speaker 1:

On to number two. This one's for my friends who journal. I offer you the prompt how am I doing? Really Not how you should be, how you are, no pretending, no performing. When you start to pull this thread, you'll be amazed at how this activity really helps you to dial into what's going on. What's the reality of your situation, what have you been successfully ignoring? And what this is is it's a chance to practice some grace and you can adjust your day and your self-talk to meet you where you are In reality. You can't just walk into a pharmacy and ask for medicine. You have to know what's going on in order to respond to yourself in a way that really serves you properly. No band-aids here, just real, honest-to-goodness self-love. Your mantra for this one can be something like I allow my words to reflect my unwavering belief in my worth.

Speaker 1:

And for number three, we can't take care of the soul and the mind and forget about the vessel. It's time to take care of that body, that meat suit that is a miracle and facilitates all of this other magic. Show it some love. And here's where you can start. Take a walk with no destination. Your mantra here can be something like my body deserves to be taken care of, because you are the only one in charge of that. And it doesn't have to be a marathon or take up your whole morning, but move your body. No input, no earbuds, just listen and let your body lead. Look around, notice what you usually ignore. Your environment becomes a mirror when you're present, and this is also a great exercise for your intuition and is a perfect time to tune into your self-talk and make sure that it's nothing short of glowing. You are your own publicist and you will see yourself the way that you speak to yourself, and when you speak to yourself with love, you're going to see yourself starting to act accordingly. See how it all fits together. Let's keep going. Now let's talk nourishment versus the noise.

Speaker 1:

For number four, I want to invite you to make a meal just for you. No multitasking, no performance, just nourishment. You're going to want to slow down the pace, pick your favorite recipe and do everything that you always do, but this time with intention. The intention is that this is for you. Then you can shift to observation, where you can witness how sacred it feels to feed yourself with presence. Now you don't have to prepare every meal this way, but this practice allows you to integrate some of this mindfulness more often and bring pleasure back to the preparation. Your reminder to do this can be found in the mantra my body is my ally, restoring, strengthening and guiding me to my best life. Now I can't go further than number five without this friendly and gentle reminder.

Speaker 1:

Say no to something that you're doing out of obligation, because that yes was costing you. I want you to watch how much your energy shifts when you start protecting it, and the more you do this, the more empowered you will feel, because this is you showing you the respect that you thought you were showing the person that you were saying yes to. This little redirect is an act of getting yourself a little further up the food chain when it comes to priorities, and if you're feeling jittery about tackling this one, the mantra here, no is no, and I say so to protect my peace. Now the next micro shift is number six, and that is to audit your calendar. Just have a look, and if there's something that's on there that drains you, it does not belong, because busy does not mean that you're aligned. This is your chance to make space for what actually fuels you.

Speaker 1:

But, steph, who's going to clean my house? Well, what options have you considered? Is it time to hire a cleaner? Do the kids do their fair share? Is there a way that you can do it and make it enjoyable, like for me? I take care of it all once per week. I call it my Cinderella day, and after coffee and the crossword, I take two mojo gummies, I plug in my favorite podcast or playlist and I get to it. I got my detailed list of tasks and I cross them off one by one so satisfying. And then you know what else I do. I forget about the housekeeping for the rest of the week because I know that I'll get to it next Tuesday, because and I mean, I do clean as I go and maintain the house, but I don't let the task ahead of me erode my headspace, and this has been a favorite mantra of mine. I am the president of doing what I want and I fill my agenda accordingly. Have fun with it Now.

Speaker 1:

Number seven is for my meditators. Out there, next time you sit to clear your mind, gently ask your nervous system am I calm or just functional? Big difference and your body knows your body will never lie to you. So from there, simply sitting and focusing on your breath for five minutes or 15, if you can get there, this can change the game and get you back on solid ground. The boogeyman in your brain may still be around, but this mindful meditation or just time with your breath has regulated your brain chemistry to arm you with the clarity and strength that your anxiety was eating up like a half-priced buffet. You can ground yourself in the mantra being at peace with the inner me makes me happy, because, I mean, facts are facts, am I right? Now let's tap into energy and expansion.

Speaker 1:

Number eight celebrate a small win in a big way. Pop the metaphorical champagne or the real champagne, I don't care. Self-recognition is magnetic and only you know how hard it was to do that thing. Only you know the difference that small win has made in your life. So why wait for everyone else to notice and celebrate? And this activity is a surefire way to get out of the lack mindset and into abundance. Grounding yourself in the feeling of self-recognition is guaranteed to catapult your energy and your self-worth. Time well spent and champagne that's always money well spent, in my opinion.

Speaker 1:

But let's go into number nine. Feed your soul, not your scroll. I'm not saying get rid of the apps, just temper it. Read or listen to something expansive, something that stretches you, something that feeds your curiosity, something that uplifts you or enlightens you, because when you're green you grow and when you're ripe you rot. When you're ripe you think you can stop learning, you can stop feeding your brain with healthy content. So your call.

Speaker 1:

Moving on to number 10, it might be a good time to just be still, light a candle, play some soft music and then do nothing. Not because you earned it, not because you're tired, but because you're allowed. Rest isn't earned, it's essential, and the body knows how to heal itself when we get out of the way. Being able to sit in stillness it is a skill, but it's one worth developing. Imagine trading your anxiety and your nervousness for the pleasure of feeling grounded and centered. This is the only time you will get something for nothing, and that something is inner peace. Anyone else offering you something for nothing? I can't give you a better deal than that.

Speaker 1:

Moving on to number 11. Move to release, not achieve. Feeling pent up. Are your shoulders around your ears? Do you feel like there's a 500 horsepower engine running inside of you that just won't quit. That's energy that has nowhere to go. So let your body guide the rhythm. This isn't punishment, it's permission, permission to process, grieve. Let go give awareness to reflect. But, as a good friend of mine once told me, go give awareness to reflect. But as a good friend of mine once told me, motion is lotion. Now let's pivot into our next theme, which is to clear and connect. So for number 12, we're going to clear the clutter in one space, not your whole house, maybe it's a junk drawer, maybe it's your closet, but physical clarity leads to mental clarity. Small space, big shift. I did this the other day and the change that it had on my headspace was immediate. I felt proud of my space, invigorated by my environment, and had the peace of mind that it was simply no longer on my to-do list and, as a result, I have better habits now to keep it that way, because now I consciously want to protect my space and my peace.

Speaker 1:

Moving on to number 13. Speak the thing that you've been avoiding, say it, say it out loud, get it out of your heart and out of your head and into a safe space. Truth is energy medicine. So if you're feeling drained by having the same conversation with yourself over and over and over about that thing that's been bugging you, it's time to get it out of your head and into its next stage, whether that's confiding in a friend or just confronting that ick that's been weighing you down, honey. It's time to drop the weight of the unknown and shed light on that situation that you've been avoiding. Give it some room to breathe, take shape and evolve into whatever comes next. You're ready, which is a great invitation for number 14. Connect with yourself.

Speaker 1:

Write a letter to the you who feels like home Because she's not gone, she's just waiting for a safe return. It means writing to the version of you that feels grounded, whole, real. Write a letter to the you that knows your worth, your joy, your values, where you feel safe and honest and unedited, like you can exhale and just be. Write a letter to the person that might have existed before the world told you who to be. This version of you is your internal compass. When you feel lost and you're going to want to write this letter to remember who you are beneath all the noise, the expectations, the burnout, do it to reconnect to your essence, your calm, powerful, soulful self, to soothe yourself during the hard times, to serve as a reminder or a guide when you feel yourself drifting. You might want to write things like what does she know? What does she want you to remember, what she would never let you forget, what lights her up? Because this is a reflection and a reunion. Think of it like writing a letter to your inner anchor, to your north star, to your soft place to land. You're not writing from ego or performance. You're writing it from deep remembering, which ties in perfectly with number 15.

Speaker 1:

Do a values audit. If I stopped you in the street today and asked you to list your values, could you do it? When was the last time you checked in on your values? Are you operating on a system based on values that were given to you or have you curated your own list? This simple exercise can amplify your relationship with yourself in a huge way, and it's important to note that if you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything, and we don't want that. Now. Do we Check out season two, episode one for an episode dedicated solely to uncovering your values and how it can upgrade your life and your mojo? And for more data, go to number 16. Reflect on what felt off this month. Ask yourself, why did I tolerate it? And that's where your next boundary begins. If it felt off, will we do it again? That's up to you Now.

Speaker 1:

Our next theme is joy and realignment. So for number 17, I want you to take yourself on a solo date, because joy doesn't need justification. Just intention and solo dates have been promoted to be scary, and you're so brave for doing it. But what could be scary about doing what you want, about doing what brings you joy on your time, on purpose and showing up for yourself and recognizing how damn wonderful you are? That doesn't sound scary, does it Over to number 18.

Speaker 1:

Visualization Picture the life that feels aligned. No rules, no limits. Let your imagination stretch. Even five minutes is enough. See that person in the mirror and build out their story. What does their day look like? What are they wearing? How do they feel? Stepping through that mirror and into the person you are becoming starts in the mind. Thoughts become things. Write that down and our next practical shift is to unfollow content that makes you second guess yourself. You got to protect your energy. It's sacred. This is you editing the noise out of your life that's pulling you away from that vision of yourself that is part of your becoming. All other applicants need not apply. Maybe that follow made sense once upon a time, but now you're in charge of the VIP section of who gets to impact your scrolling time.

Speaker 1:

Next little shift is to do something purely because it feels good, not because it's productive or impressive, just pleasurable. And this is another great way to tap into your relationship with yourself and remember what it is that you love, what it is that feels good, whether it's alone time or hitting up the new art exhibit, or just meeting a friend for lunch. Tune into what your inner self is craving and do the thing unapologetically. Your mojo will thank you and, lastly, remind yourself that you're allowed to change your mind, because what worked before may not work now. Realignment always requires a little bit of release and just like that we're at 20. But you don't need to do all 20. Start with one. Pick the one that tugged at you the most while you were listening, because that's your sign, that's your starting point, because small doesn't mean insignificant. Small means sustainable, and sustainable is where the magic lives.

Speaker 1:

I recently asked my Instagram audience the question of what's one small shift that's made a big difference, and I was so thrilled by all the responses, like Leanne, who said how talking nicely to herself has allowed her to go through life with a little more grace and gain the ability to be gentler with herself. That is a huge win. Or Mandy, who decided to shake up her morning routine and start the day with stretching and affirmations. Controlling the narrative before the day does Amazing. And Karen, who shared that finding a way to compliment someone at least once a day was a guaranteed mood booster. Seeing the joy in someone else reflecting back to her was a way to raise the vibration of any given moment. Back to her was a way to raise the vibration of any given moment. These are all gold and proof that you can design your own micro shifts that are in alignment with who you are, where you want to go and who you want to be.
